My 7 year old son has good phonics and sight words knowledge and good vocabulary, but he always thought that reading is just a chore that he needs to do, no matter how I try to make reading fun, until he met Dog Man! He got to read a part of a volume and he loved it, but apparently, this series is popular among his peers and it is hard for him to get hold of any other copies. One day, he came home saying “I wish I could read the Dog Man book one more time….” So here we are. I immediately purchased it for him and it was worth every penny, for it gave me this sight everyday: he is reading it to his younger brother, both smiling. He’s doing it spontaneously. It’s happening without my engagement. He just needed a good book by a good author for him to fly high as a reader!
